Norfolk moderator moves in to take Ross' seat

Norfolk town moderator and former Judge Dan Winslow says he will seek election to the State Representative seat currently held by Richard Ross of Wrentham.  Ross earlier this week announced that he will run in a special election to fill the vacancy in the State Senate created by the election of Scott Brown to the U.S. Senate.

Brown will resign from the State Senate when he is sworn in as a U.S. senate and the Senate President will schedule a special election.

Ross will run for State Senate, Poirier running for re-election

State Rep. Richard Ross, Republican of Wrentham, announced at a North Attleborough press conference this evening that he will be running for the State Senate to fill the seat left vacant by friend, fellow Wrentham resident, and now US Senator-elect Scott Brown.  Meanwhile, State Rep. Betty Poirier, also a Republican, while widely perceived to have been considering a run for the seat, decided to run for re-election to her own House seat this year instead of running for Brown's seat.

Take a listen to these audio clips:

Bowles: "I have not seen very significant effort from the Martha Coakley campaign"

State Rep. Bill Bowles, Democrat from Attleboro told Sam Obar and WDIS listeners on The Sam Obar Show Saturday that he has "not seen very significant effort from the Martha Coakley campaign" and attributed the fact that her opponent Scott Brown is ahead in some polls to the lack of effort in the Coakley campaign.

Bowles visited the Sam Obar Center at the WDIS studios January 16 and, besides the US Senate race, also discussed the Attleboro RMV and education reform.  Bowles will be back on The Sam Obar Show in a few months to discuss more state issues.
